Non Standard Ductwork Sizes

Hello all,

I am in the the process of refinishing my basement and the duct work is hanging a little too low. It is 8 x 10 and hangs down about 2 inches from the floor joists. Since I am seven feet tall and need all the headroom I can get, I would like to change the dimentions of the ducts. I know that 8' is the standard btu I was wondering if some company makes some stock sizes that are 6 x 14 or similar.

If I can find these and hang them closer to the joists I will gain about 4 inches room.

Any leads or tips would be great.

call up you local hvac company and ask them if they have a plasma cutter (they can make it allot cheaper then ones that dont) Im sure that they will sell it to you, you will also need slip and drive because they usualy get damaged when you tear out .Good luck
