Noisy Fan Motor Lenox 13ACD Merit Series

Thank you for this forum and thanks in advance to the people who contribute!

Lenox 13ACD Merit Series (assume fan motor noise)

-Fan Noise at full RPM, Noise not present on startup or shutdown
-Excessive vibration - Grill is rocking pretty good but unit seems stable on concrete platform
- Noise is not a sqeal so much as more a muted gas engine type sound. Compared to what you might hear in an old gas engine airplane with the engine sputtering.
- RPM seems constant, air working fine except for the noise.

My only guess is to plan on a replacement motor soon. Any other thoughts ideas on what I can check or do?

Thanks to all in advance.

Noisy Fan Motor Lenox 13ACD Merit Series

Did anything fall on the fan blade durning the winter? Did ice bend the blade?
Are all the mounting screws tightm ,,,top and bottom?
This problem more indicative of a fan blade problem than a motor problem. If the bearings on the motor are that sloppy then there is no cure that will help except replacing the motor.(if you do that, don't forget to replace the capacitor too)

No I pretty confident the blades are OK and I did check the top mounting screws but not the bottom 4. I will certainly ensure those are tight as well then order a new fan motor before this one dies. Thanks for the tips REP.

confirmed the bottom bolts are tight as well. Guess it's a new fan motor, thanks again.
