no heat from furnace

When i turn my heater on everything seems to be working fine(gas ignites and blower comes on). It seems like the blower is reversed, the vent going out the roof gets extremely hot, but no air is blowing out of the vents in the house.

Is this a new house for you?
If not, anything change since last use of furnace?
Are you sure 'blower' is the big squirrel cage fan blower and not the first induced draft fan blower? It takes a few minutes for main blower motor to start after ignition and enough heat.

If thermostat has a fan position, I'd do my experimenting like that until air comes out registers. Big blower fan will turn on immediately in that case.

I would agree with first reply, I believe you have a problem with main blower that moves the air thru your house. This is usually located right after the furnace filter. As the prevoius post stated this does not come on rigth away, the furnace must heat up first. Note: If main blower is not working the furnace will shut down because of internal high temperature and of course your house will still be cold. You mention high vent temperature which may also indicate that main blower is not working and furnace is overheating. Hope this helps,
