ng furnace won't turn off

We always put them on the cold air return. Older furnaces run a LOT hotter supply air temp (up to 150 and over degrees F) but your new one may go up to 130-135 so it is not cool either. Should not go on the hot air duct ever IMO.

see, i learned something already.... mine is set to 120 for stage l and 140 for stage ll. my new humi is on the cold side. i would have thought that a hot humi would be made of somthing other than plastic. i also heard that the manuals say they can be on both. with that in mind, maybe i should go after the manufacturer for the misleading info.

I don't know of any mfg that doesn't allow supply or cold air mountings

Most of us have gone thru a humidifier over flow in our careers. And if it was a supply side mounting water ran allover the furnace controls and damged them.

That is the biggest reason I use the cold air return.
