Good looking job. Congrats.
Yuri is it a common practice to use "s" cleats to fab a plenum?
Not criticizing just asking cause I use a Pittsburgh seamer to make all my metal.

Some guys hand fab their plenums that way and as long as it is neatly done I like it. Going to do the same next year when I "retire" Mom's old warrior Pulse unit. One co. I worked for used a cube van with Pittsburg and brake in the back and we have a full blown sheet metal shop and journeyman where I am now.

Thanks.
Too many side jobber hacks around here use S-cleats but they butcher the cuts. It's so bad here the inspectors will knock it down if a contractor uses anything except Pitts or button lock.

You don't own any UEI instruments?

I got a boat load.

UEI and Testo, got 2 manometers, CO tester, velometers, etc etc but I won`t buy the *Luke brand as I don`t believe they are worth the huge extra cost.

Another interesting difference is we go out the wooden foundation plate with the PVC .

Can't think of any 90 we did that we needed a coring tool.

...don't let the other guys know that...you know what I mean!
But yeah..made in China, sold at "Made in USA prices" ? Not me either.

My meters all meet CSI and CAT III and CAT IV safety rating.

the intake is a bit out there, but it's code. i'm not playing with this unit at all... anything goes wrong, i'll just pick up the phone. 4hrs seems a bit short. these guys were moving very fast. the sales man that i spoke to the night before told me that it would be a 9-5 job, and it was exactly that. if this time line were cut in half, i'm sure the quality would also, not to be rude, but i was there. there isn't much space in my furnace room and me being in there probly didn't help but he only kicked me once...lol... this guys deserves 1st class awards in humor, respect, customer service, craftsmanship, nailing the deadline dead on. i have no doubt that it would have been faster if i wasn't always shoving the camera in his face. action furnace met and exceeded my expectations. the average furnace today ballparks $4000... and i payed a bit more, but i'm sure it was a fair deal. it is h/e 2stage, with a few bells but no whistle. some one should tell me if i should be happy or not? i have never heard of amana and i was to frozen to get shop alot. right now it's -20c, but it's nice in here now. i don't feel sick either

LOTS of our homes have foundations like that. We use a 2.5 inch hammer drill and let the young pups do the fun part. Pay a professional corer to do 5 or 6 inch holes for fresh air pipes etc. I musta drilled 500 2in holes in the early 80's as a young pup installin ACs and never want to see the back end of a Bosch drill again.

Amana and its twin Goodman is a very good unit. My neighbor has a 6 yr old one with no problems, I look after it and I have seen 100's of them installed in my previous co. You got a good deal and good job. My Pro installers can do that job in 4 hrs but we pay them LOTS and they are VERY good. Don't see where he cut any corners in yours so I would be happy with it. Hackers slather glue everywhere and metal foil tape all over their air leaks.

i think i remember him saying something about my house being a 4 level split and that could be why, from what the core guy told me, it seems to be common practice... it was all included in the price, the pump on the back of the furnace isn't in my furnace manual as an included part and it's not in my final invoice. they also got me a $400 rebate from the gov and they sent away for it. then he knocked $230 off the final bill. so in a couple months the furnace will total around $4500

i'm going to pull the core guy for another job in the spring cause i saw a slab saw in his van. i need to cut up my back yard, all 4000 sqft of it is paved

Young pup? You mean I ain't supposed to be knockin' holes in brick walls at age 59?
I got a De Walt Home Wrecker that makes brick breakin' easy

Price sounds reasonable to me. We go over $6000 with some of our high end Lennox units and start around $4000 for a single stage similar unit to yours (single stage not 2 stage).

you guys all seem happy with what you see, and that tells me that action furnace should be allowed back in my home.

i got hosed on my 1st humi job 2yrs ago, they put the plastic housing on the hot side of an old furnace. i know for next time.... i'm going to get my money back from that outfit. i asked him when he installed, he said this is was the correct location. guess he was wrong. maybe on a new furnace but not an old one.
