New Thermostat wiring


Can you put batteries into the Honeywell so it reads temperature (without being hooked to the system), rest it on top of the new one and see if the temperature readings are the same? Just to get an idea if the stat was bad or reading wrong.

Most stats work on a temperature differential meaning it has to drop one or two degrees below set point before bringing on the heat. I do believe that this is adjustable but these other guys know more about it than I.

I think that is what was happening.

Same applies for how high above the temperature set point, I think.
