New Thermostat for Heat and A/C
We have Central Air and Oil-fired heat (baseboard heaters). Upstairs, there are two thermostats, right next to each other on the wall. I want to consolidate the two old thermostats into one programmable thermostat capable of controlling both heat and A/C.
The old thermostat that controls heat is a Honeywell T822D. The wires are not labeled but one is red and one is white. I'm assuming one would be R and one W
The old thermostat controlling the AC is a Honeywell T87F. The wires on that one are labeled: R, G, and Y.
Can it be done? Should I connect the R from the AC side to the R terminal and the red wire from the heat thermostat to the RH terminal?
Yes, A/C to R, and heat to RH.
