New Install - Heat Pump Woes...

Hi Folks--

Well my installer's supervisor can't come out for a week, the installer verified pressure and txv and were fine. I decided I'd look at the wiring as I'm pretty technical. The Payne (PH13NA) Heat pump was replaced from a along with my coil. I have a Carrier Air Handler/Furnace (58RAV) and a Carrier Heat Pump Thermostat (TSTATCCPHP01).

The unit works just fine in COOL mode, in HEAT mode, the heat pump kicks on and then goes off a few seconds later. In emergency heat mode, the gas furnace kicks on just fine.

The TXV and Unit is properly charged per the tech. I don't believe the reversing valve is getting signal.

Here is the wiring, - First entry is the Air Handler, Second entry is the Thermostat, third entry is the Heat Pump:

Handler | Thermostat | Heat Pump

Common Common Common
W W W
Y Y Y
R R R
G G -
O O

W = WHITE
Y = YELLOW
R = RED
G = GREEN
COMMON = BLUE
O = BROWN

Any suggestions?

I think it already is....is there a way to jumper the reversing valve to determine if it the culprit?

What sends the power to O/brown...the termostat or air handler? There isn't a wiring teminal for O on the handler...that wire bypasses te handler an is spliced.

O - does not appear to be energized when in HEAT mode. Interesting...does the thermostat provide power for "O"?

I ask because the "O" wire isn't connected anywhere on the airhandler, I don't see a terminal for "O" on the handler anyways.

The air handler only has these terminals:

Com
W
Y
R
G

The O wire goes directly from the thermostat to the outdoor condensor where it's connected to an Orange wire.

Is there a way I can jumper the orange wire to something else (bypass the thermostat for testing)
