New Furnace w/Coil. How much should labor be for condenser install?

If you're buying that thing for $461 out the door, that's a helluva deal. My cost on a somewhat comparable R-22 dry ship unit is more than double that, and for a Rheem/Ruud dry ship it's a fair amount more than that! Granted I don't install the "Concord" or other bottom tier brands (I gave up on installing el-cheapo stuff long ago), but that is definitely a a very, very cheap price.

That's a heckuva price. Did that also include refrigerant? Assuming this is an R-22 system, of course, those may have been dry-ship units if they were installed in the last year or two. Pricing also depends on the area you live in. I'm in a mid-sized city (Augusta, GA) and our costs are quite a bit lower than companies in larger cities like Atlanta, GA, and quite a bit higher than some of the rural areas surrounding us. It's all relative ...
Yep it's a dry charge 22. And it costs me more to buy a Copeland Scroll compressor from the same distributor than I pay for this unit. And I swear this unit is better than you'd think. It is identical to an older Lennox. We were setting Goodmans but we like the Condcord 3/8" coils better than the 1/4" coils the Goodmans use. I'm also paying about $200 more for a 410a armstrong.

I wasn't using bottom tier equipment. And I wasn't talking about dry ship units.

It was a Luxaire Acclimate that I priced/quoted. Yes, I'm a contractor. And I installed that 2.5 ton for a nice chunk of money.

And of course a labor warranty. I don't have to cringe if I would have to go and work on it for free.

The fairness of the price was weighted toward me. But along with that they get more then just braze, purge, open valves, collect money and leave.

A good installation, quality equipment and follow up service makes for a good reputation

So those were done a couple of years back? There have been no R22 units shipped with refrigerant in the past few years.

Get 3 estimates from lic contractors. Ask questions, for references and insurance information. You should question any estimate which is extremely high or low. You should get a price in writing to see what you are getting for your money. New condenser pads, electrical disconnect, refrigerant lines, system flushes, acid test, and contractor labor warranties cost time and material which cost money and add value.

I don't mind get beat on price if it is for the same job. I state right on my contracts that I will match or bet any lic contractor comparable price.

Unfortunately a lot of job I loose I am not getting beat on price. I am getting beat on not doing the job correctly for less money because it cost less to do it that way.

If you want the extras that really should be done they cost. If you don't want them tell the contractors giving the bid that and he won't due them or charge for them.
