This i know may not be easy and usually you get some liking certain models ..but is there one furnace here that does stand out better then the rest...
If i go to a new furnace, having a single stage installed now,, i am thinking of a dual stage furnace, as hydro here in Ontario is very costly, so i want to save electricity..here are 3 choices
Keeprite - Hi Eff. Gas Furnace - Two Stage - Variable Speed - DC Motor - 96% AFUE - Natural Gas - 80000 BTU - G9MXT080-IIX96 -
Ruud / Rheem - Hi Eff. Gas Furnace - Two Stage - Variable Speed - DC Motor - UP FLOW - 95% AFUE - Natural Gas - 75000 BTU - RGRM-07EYBGS -
Carrier Performance 96 - Hi Eff. Gas Furnace - Two Stage - Variable Speed - DC Motor - Up to 96.7% AFUE - Natural Gas - 80000 BTU – 59TP5A080 - $2480

both the ruud and the carrier are good furnaces, but remember all furnaces models and brands are good (there is no such thing as bad equipment only bad installers) with tha being said if you get top notch equipment make sure you get top notch installation with it
The only problem, is not all HVAC Technicians are created equal..I am finding that out not trying to get an old furnace fixed...
You may find a good company, but with several employee's some may be better then other's so in the end the furnace may work fine but maybe could have worked better..there are no guarantees
One way to know which contractor to go with is by knowing which one(s) did a real load calculation. The one(s) that didn't are lazy azzz contractors and likely will give you a bad install.
Another thing is that Keeprite is a fairly new brand. Are you sure they will be around in 8-10 years when you might have problems with your furnace?
Another thing to look at is how many people sell which brand. The brand with the most listed contractors tells you that if your contractor can't get to you when (if) you have trouble then there are other contractors with experience on your model furnace.
Another thing you should do is get referances from past customers of contractors.I usually suggest 5 ,and then call them to find out how satisfied they are.
excellent information, it all makes good sense ... thanks
