new furnace

My furnace is original to my home, which was built in 1972. this summer I will replace it and am wondering if any one has used a gas forced air unit with another, secondary furnace. I am thinking something wood or pellet burning. I know my bill will drop when I install a new GFA furnace, but I would like to get costs even lower. Wood is readily available and I don't mind the work, as long as the furnace comes on when the temp requires it. Thanks for any help

A woodburning stove will provide additional heat, of course. Just be sure the combustion air/venting is separate from the house air or you'll be venting more heat up the chimney that you're gaining from the stove.
