New condenser recommendations?
I am looking to replace 2 older Lennox condensers (2 different houses) one is a 2 ton and the other is a 2 1/2 ton. I am looking for some recommendations on what (maker, SEER rating, and efficiency rating) to replace it with. I would like to stay with R-22 so I won't need to change the evap. coil. Any assistance would be appreciated.

We don't do pricing or recommend specific brands but the old adage "you get what you pay for" is very true. I sell lots of Lennox and they use all copper coils and stand the test of time well. You need to replace the evaporator coil as the new units are a LOT more efficient and use a different size coil which won't be compatible with older units. No R22 units are available in Canada or R22, so it is going obsolete. The new R410 is the way to go.

Even if you find R22 condensers. you would still need new indoor coils.
The new condensers don't work well with the smaller coils of older units.

Just raise their rent 25 bucks a month.

No R22 units manufactured in the US either after last year. Most stopped production early and made the conversion to 410A last summer.
