New Buderus installation

Hi

We are finally replacing our original 50 year old oil boiler with a new G115/34 Buderus. The installer, however did not recommend installing the smart logamatic controller unit and said it is very expansive (another 1000$ or so, installation on top of the full system including circulator etc @ 5400$) and most importantly is not reliable !!!

Is he right, or is it just too complicated for them?
Should we insist on the controller (we are willing to pay).

Thanks

Dan

I don't know how much benefit you'll get with the controller given that this is an oil burning unit. It makes more sense with a gas mod/con boiler where you can run lower temperatures. With oil, I believe, the lowest you can run is 130-135F before it starts sooting.
