New air inducer fan not working. Bryant gas pack.

Hi. When I turned the heat on for the first time this year, the fan wheel on the air inducer fell apart from rusting out. The unit is a Bryant gas package. I replaced the air inducer assembly which was a unit with the fan motor, fan wheel, and housing. It was identical to the part that came off. Installation went smooth, but the heater will not start. I get an error code with 6 blinks which indicates a problem with air inducer motor. I am certain I installed it correctly.

Is there a reset proceedure from when the original fan wheel fell apart and caused the system to shut down?

Any ideas? Thanks.

No. The fan does nothing. I hear a slight vibration noise coming from the area (not fan) for maybe 30 seconds and then it stops and the error light starts blinking.

I would test the power supply to the ID (with the inducer electrically disconected from the furnace) when there is a call for heat.
If the board supply is OK then you can hard wire the new inducer assy from another power source (extension cord) to test that it's OK.

Can you spin the fan/motor by hand when it is installed? Sounds like it may be binding on something

I had an technician friend come take a look and it was the capacitor. I guess when the motor bound up after the fan wheel imploded it killed the capacitor.

My electrical skills are weak. Otherwise that would have been an easy diagnosis for someone with basic electrician knowledge.

In any event, thanks for the replies. This is a good site. Glad i found it.
