Need Room Heater Recommendation

Hi: I have a 10 X 10 Bedroom in NYC area and their is no heat in this area of the house. It is located in a beach area so wind and heat loss plus poor insulation is an issue.

Currently there is a 40yr old wall mounted vented gas space heater in there. THe pilot went out and will not light. The hole to put a match in to light it is only as big as a match head and the draft blows the match out. Can't figure any way to light it so with winter approaching, I need a reasonably priced solution.

MY mother who is 88 & lives alone needs something simple & safe - with a thermostat even a non-digital..

Since there is gas there already do I just get another wall mount vented gas space heater or would a Electric Oil based heater be able to handle this?

Tx,

Tom

Need Room Heater Recommendation

I have 2 Kenwood brand electric oil radiators that have done a great job for me. I bought them for my last house to heat the garage when I needed to in the winter. 2 of them would keep my 20x20 garage about 70 degrees in the dead of a Chicago winter. They have non-specific thermostat dials on them, and have done an admirable job whenever I needed them. I've also noticed that they never get too hot to touch. They do suck up a bit of electricity though. That's about all I can offer on the subject.

They were about $80 each at HD 2-3 years ago.

Does that room have only 1 electrical circuit?

A 15 amp 120 volt circuit can only handle 1-1500 watt(5,000BTU)electric space heater.
And not much more then an lamp, or radio other then the heater.

Might need to run a separate circuit for it. If she has any other electrical devices she needs to run.
