Need HVAC solution for basement - 3 zone? or ductless units?
We are finishing our basement as a rental and my kids are very allergic to any kind of smells (cleaners, perfumes,etc.). Right now we have a duel zone system (the 2nd floor has it's own units and the first floor shares the unit with the basement). Our goal is to contain most or all of the basement air in the basement and not blow it to our first floor.
We've looked into damper units with new duct work, a seperate third zone furance + A/C unit with all new ducts, and ductless units in the 3 rooms. We've interviewed three HVAC contractors, each telling us a different solution. We are really confused. we just want a solution that will not break the bank and contain most or all the basement air in the basement. Does anybody know what is the best solution (and cost effective and energy efficient). Any ideas? suggestions? thoughts?
