Need Humidifier ASAP, 2+ problems

I just installed an aprilaire 800 in a 3000 sq ft house (not including finished basement). It took some tweaking but it works great now. It has to be hooked up to cold water. I also found it to work better by using 120v instead of 240v. Not as much steam comes out of the blower pack when hooked up to 120v but the lower amount of steam disperses better causing less condensation in the area closest to the blower - so I found I got more even dispersion of humidity. The next thing I'm thinking of doing is installing a relay so the fans for the air handlers come on when the humidistat calls for the humidifier to kick on.

Steam humidifiers is not what we were talking about.

Hot water is for media type humidifiers.

The op mentioned the 800 steam humidifier as an option - not looking to step on toes - just figured I would let the op know that I had good luck with it.

Thanks! Given the temps in the 50's I may be able to squeeze out a winter and go steam.

I have two "Electric" 40 gallon water heaters in the way, that I can't seem to even give away.

Hey BeenThere

Since I have my work cut out for me, maybe I could get a tip as to what is the most critical point to start with sealing? If we are using around 2,000 KwH per month to cool mid summer but are using 4,100 KwH per month to heat, not including propane 2nd stage, is there a specific type of loss I am dealing with? House clearly loses/won't hold in heat faster than it gains.

Windows, wall switches, and receps, door seals.

Band board in the basement, attic access if its in the occupied area. Any holes wires go through into the attic.

Are those numbers typical for central Indiana? I'm not that knowledgeable but electrical portion (propane accounts for more of cold weather heat) of heating being twice as high as highest cooling?
