Question

Need HELP with "Synder General" wiring

Ok heres the deal I just moved into a famliy house, that has a old synder general heating and cooling system (Model numbers Outside unit YC024G, Inside unit DCYPA018/024) well it was working fine up until a month ago when a squriell got in to the attic and chewed up the control wires well now I am stuck tring to figure out how to wire it back up.

Here are some photos that show what I have to deal with.

In the photo you will see two brown lines at the left of the photo the top one runs to the outside unit, the bottom one runs to the Thermosat control panel in the hall.

the control line has the following wires, yellow, white, orange, brown, red, blue, green and black. On the indoor unit I have a Brown, white, red, yellow and gray.

C. = control line. Now as you can see from the above photos there is still a C. blue connected to the brown wire, and C. white to the white

This is a shot of the wiring on the outside unit they are connected as follows. C. yellow to yellow, C. white to white, C. orange to orange, C. brown to Looks Tan, C. red to red with the green, black, and blue connected to nothing.

If you can make any sense of this please give me a hand.

It's hard for me to see the attic photos. You should be able just wire all the colors back together. The only problem is if you have 2 wires the same color. If so, you'll have to determine where they go. You may also have a fried transformer

Do either of the units have a schematic in them? If so take a pic and post it so we can better help you out. I don't have one on the units that you listed. (Snyder General) Makes me everytime I hear that name. I have a call into the factory for a schematic(don't hold you breath) hopefully someone here has the info and get it to you sooner.

Wow! Looks pretty messed up Mike

But if I know you, you'll get it working one way or another.

Go with the lengths of undamaged wires. It's unlikely that he chewed two identical colored wires the same distance from the cable sleeve.

Hard for me to tell.. Is there 2 wires left unconnected or ??. If the t.stat still operates you could turn it to different settings & check with v.m which un connected wire/wires are hot. Can you look inside the cabinet & tell where those un connected wires come from ?

neither unit have any diagrams on them (too old I guess), the T.Sat is useless right now cause the Control wires are the ones we are dealing with here. If you look at the last photo the two yellow Control line wires are together, the two orange wires are twisted together but not capped. There are two C. Whites connected to the White. Also a c.blue connected to the brown line with whats left of a cap but not sure if anything else was supposed to be there also.

Here is the schematic for the yc018/024 with a typical air handler with electric heat. The number you gave dcypa018/024 is for the coil not the air handler. I need the number on the air handler if this doesn't help. Let me know. Thanks
