Is my thermostat bad


i disconnected yellow wire from the y1 terminal,and held it on the r terminal for about 3 min and my outside unit dident kick on.

no, most likely problem outside in a/c. check your breakers, check your outside disconnect, check the contactor.... all good places to start.
