My mixed whatever heating system

I just moved into my "new" house and for the past few days the heater will not go over 58 degrees til about 1pm. It utilizes hot water to provide heat so I tried letting hot water in the kitchen trickle overnight but that did not help, any suggestions? Thanks

So is your home being heated entirely from an electric tank slaved to an air handler that lists a heating capacity of between 16,000 to 36,000 BTUs?

Pictures? House size and location? Water tank size? Does the tank provide hot water for domestic use and space heating?

Are you certain that your space is heated by a electric water heater?

Where are you measuring the 58 degrees? Is that the room temp, the air temp coming from the blower? What is the water temp when it's working well and not working well?

When it's not working well is heater running but blowing cool air or is the heater just not running?

What are the specs on the water heater? Does the water heater also provide your hot water for kitchen and bath water. How big is your house and about where are you located?

Do you have a programmable thermostat?

Temp read at programmable thermostat, max water temp of 180 min 140, 860 square foot, water heater supplies all hot water which always runs extremely hot, when only reading 58 only cool air coming out of vents until approx 1pm and I am in northern Nevada

So when it's blowing cold air the actual water temp is 140 degrees or more? Is it set to blow all the time (manual) or only when calling for heat(auto)? Just as a sanity check make sure the programmable thermostat is set properly and calling for heat before 1PM. I know it sounds obvious but sometimes those things can unintentionally get set wrong.

Do you know if it was working better before? What's the kwh rating on the water heater? It's possible the water heater doesn't put out enough btus to supply your domestic hot water useage as well as heat. Trickling the hot water won't help. it will hurt by using up some of the water heaters output.

The unit you have is often run in combination with a heat pump. Is yours? If the hydronic isn't working and the heat pump is you might get the results you describe. You might only be getting heat from the heat pump in the afternoon when the temps warm up. When it is cold at night and in the morning the unit should be trying to use the hydronic when the heat pump can't keep up. Can you check to see if the hydronic pump is operating? There is typically a relay that kicks on the pump. Do you feel comfortable checking the relay to see if it's getting voltage when it should and whether it's putting out power to the pump?

programmed to 65 degrees but for some reason it cools down to 58 around 2 am and like I said before it doesn't heat up again until around 1pm. this only started around three days ago. also, when it runs in the early morning it is cycling constantly for at least 4 hours as if it is trying to heat my house up but the air is cool

Look to see if there is a box from the electric company shutting your water heater off at peak times. Or a mechanical timer.
