My Humidifier is Not Humidifying

I just got a Carrier Infinity heat pump and love it. Now that it's heating, the air has gotten dry enough that my kids are coughing at night and getting nosebleeds. According to the controller, it is set for 45% ( the highest it will go) and reads 54% in the house. Yet my kids have this problem and I also feel it in my nose and throat. What do you think?

Also, the manual for the humidifier says it needs to be tapped off a hot water pipe. It comes from a cold pipe. What do you think?

54% should be plenty high enough for the current temps. If the humidifier says it needs to be hooked up to a hot water supply, then it really should be. There's been a few threads lately on humidifiers so try searching past threads.

Controller could be reading wrong.Get another hydrotherm and check it.

Humidifiers don't work real well on heat pumps if they aren't connected to the hot water.

Are you using the Infinity controller.
