I have a coleman evcon oil furnace and it runs great when it runs. it will not fire consistanly. it seems to run fine for a few hours, then it will act like its going to start and then just wont fire. my boyfriend has tore it apart and cant figure out whats wrong with it... he think we need a new ignitor but doesnt know for sure. if anyone has additional ideas please let me know, i can provide more info if needed...

Did you had to reset the red button right? When was last time you change nossle? When was the last time change the oil filter? Is the tank full and if not how cold is it outside. Cold days with low oil can cause it to thicking the oil. But I hate to tell you is if he didnot remember how to put it back together right. It may cost you money.

Does he knows how to read meter. If so check to see if you are loosing power from the board when calling for heat.

my boyfriend said there is nothing wrong with the power the pumps runs but just sometimes will not ignite, when you bang on the ignitor a few times it will light....

When he took the burner apart, did the nozzle assembly have lots of crude on it?
