Mr. Slim Question

Good Evening All & Thanx 4 Your Time,
I took a chance & spent a Bengi on a Mr. Slim, Motel Remodel Take-Out, MSH15NN. Unfortunately they tube cut the line-set behind the flare fittings on the wall unit & all I'm left with is 2 odd size stubs. The 1/4" line stub measures around 5/16" & the 5/8" Line stub reduces to just under a 1/2". I'm thinking about swedging the lines to fit & then just sweating them together, may or may not work. Also do you feel there was a metering device at that connection behind the wall unit. With the information I've found there doesn't seem to be. Any response Welcomed & Thanx Again
