Moving supply and return vents

I own an older (1940's) home that has the supply vents on the interior walls near the ceiling and the return vents on the exterior walls near the floor. I've been thinking of reversing the ducts in the basement so to have it adhere to the current standard of supply on the out walls and return on the interior. Is this worth doing? I was hoping it would improve efficiency and make the rooms feel a bit warmer. Does anyone have experinece witht this? Will it make much of a difference?

As long as you are moving the air clockwise or anti-clockwise whats the difference? The one way you pull cold air from floor and the windows and replace it with warm, the 'new' way is to push warm air across the windows and temper it on its way back to the furnace. Save your money j
