Question

Modern hotwater radiator in old system

I would like to replace an old radiator in my remodeled kitchen with a modern Veha brand radiator. Can you use these in an old (forced) hot water system? What connections need to be made? Can you go from cast iron piping to pex? Not really sure what I'm doing. Looking for insight.

If its a stell rad. It will give off heat quicker then the old cast iron rads in the rest of the home. ut won't give it off for as long. And can result in some uneven heat.

Its possible to go from steel pipe to pex. But, the pex has to be sized to flow the proper amount of water.

if you are going from steel pipe to Pex. Make sure you use the right Pex tubing. Must be manufactured for the heat use and not domestic water. Heat Pex has an oxygen barrier. Also keep in mind that most, if not all Pex has a maximum oporating temperature of 180 degrees, so make sure your boiler water temp does not exceed 180. Also when you use Pex tubing make sure you use a fastener or hanger every 4 feet or so because the Pex will expand and sag when heated.
