Mini split self diagnosis function "E4"

I have a 12000btu mini split ac unit. Hooked everything up system ran fine for about 24 hours, but unit then turned off and flashes "E4". Manual states that this means abnormality of outdoor unit, but that's all it says. The unit still cuts on and off and will work for about half an hour before cutting off and displaying "E4".

Any help trouble shooting this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

And what might be the brand and model of mini split system you have?

The outdoor unit and a Chigo, and the indoor unit is a toshiba. Model #'s on the manual are: KF-35GW/GX1b and KFR-35GW/GX1b

For what a Chiga cost. You should have gotten the matching indoor unit.

You might have burt out something in the outdoor unit.
Send it back and get another one, and order the matching indoor unit also.

Are you saying that there is no fixing this one? It seems to me it should be something simple if I could isolate the problem vs. replacing entire unit.

I'm unable to check the low pressure is normal while running, not exactly sure how to, and doubt I have the correct tools.

Everything else looks fine...

If the capacitor was bad, would the unit still turn on and run for awhile?

And if I had to go about getting the electric box or capacitor myself, how would I do so. I have the part #'s but can't seem to find where to purchase one from.

I bought it from ebay and they people I bought it from are not working with me very well and it seems I'd be better off getting the parts myself if I could.

A little trick with EBAY

When paying for an item use a credit card. That way when you don't get a response call the card company and dispute the charges. This will get you a response quick, fast and in a hurry.

I have had to use it a couple of times and when the sell gets a charge back and you have the item they are more than willing to talk.

Keep us posted

Mini split self diagnosis function "E4"

Lesson learned, credit card will be in use next time I make a big purchase such as this.

After looking at the inside of the outdoor, there isn't much to it; fan, motor, capacitor, electric box, compressor and some wires. The fan works when I turn it on as well as the cooling. This cancels out the compressor and motor. So seems to me by replacing either the capacitor or electric box or both. Is this thinking correct or am I way off.

Additionally, if my thinking is correct is there any way for me to check whether the electric box or capacitor is good?

A Chiga mini split is not a big purchase.

They are THE CHEAPEST unit on the market.

I use to sell then, I know what they cost, for a complete unit.
