Microwave turning on Central Air!!?

Recently replaced the microwave over the stove c/w hood fan. Fan comes on every time microwave is turned on and, if thermostat setting is below ambient temp, central air kicks in. Can anyone explain to me the mechanism that is happening here. As far as I can tell, the microwave is plugged into an outlet, so no wiring associated with thermostat. Is there a trigger in the ventilation baffle for the microwave that automatically kicks in the vent fan which is then triggering the A/C unit? I'm a DIY rookie, so appreciate any explanation...cheers,

Have you determined what was turning your AC on yet? I am curious about the answer to this one.

Coincidence? You say that the thermostat is set below the ambient temp for cooling. That would turn on the AC would it not? I cant see any way one would have anything to do with another. Post back more info.

Heheh, where is the thermostat in relation to the micro wave oven? Does the ac come on as soon as you tuirn the oven on or a little while afterwards?

If the Thermostat is a wireless unit, it could be triggered if operating on the 2.5ghz frequency range (just a wild guess here).

Maybe the vent fan is pulling stagnant warm air past the thermostat causing it to turn on.

I thinking something along them lines as well. I was thinking maybe blowing warm air across the stat.
