Metal Scratching Noise as furnace starts

Hello, I have a Clare Megasave (HEG80B) which is about 20-25 yrs old. This morning a sound started coming from the blower motor (Model Emerson K33HXCFE-964). It is a whirring or a metal scratching. Similar to the original posters sound. After that sound goes on for about 1 minute the pilot ignites and then after another minute to rest of furnace kicks in and the blower goes out.

Is there anything I can do aside from replacing or rebuilding this motor?

Thanks!

Here is a link to the pictures of the part in question.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I would replace the inducer assy not just the motor only. Sometimes getting the impeller off the motor shaft can be a pain or you damage the wheel while taking it off.

One possible thing to check out first.
Some inducer motors and fans are rubber mounted to the outside of the the fan housing. If the inducer motor can be moved around then see if a slightly different position allows the fan to stop connecting with the inside housing.

Thank you, I assume I would have no choice to replace the whole assem. with something retro-fit, I am not sure parts would even exist for a furnace of this age.

Thanks I will take a look, however I don't know where I am looking exactly

Furnaces are something I have never worked with, so this is my 1st look into one...ever...

Thanks for the input.
