Which MERV Filter To Go With?

I've got an air cleaner on my furnace that uses the large 4" thick filter and wondering which MERV to go with. I see they come in various different filtration ratings and not sure if the higher (and more expensive) ones are really "necessary", or the lower rated ones will be fine.

just use a merv 10. No need to go higher unless you have allergies.
