Lovin the new furnace/ tighter house
Just a thank you to BT, Yuri, Hvaclover and others. I am loving my new HE furnace and my first Feb gas bill is down below 400 Cubic meters, from over 600.
So as of first billing I'm saving approx 35% over last year, similar temp (I know we can still improve this) although still tinkering with new more accurate programs on the stat. That plus still have insulate the attic from R16 to R50. At this rate, payback on the furnace after all rebates and government incentives adjusted should be about 4-4.5 years. Warranty is 10, how can I lose? For anyone wondering first month after sealing the rim joist and basement joist bays, without much added insualation, consumption seemed to drop by at least 10% prior to the furnace upgrade. More upgrades to follow. |

Be careful you don't make the house too airtight as you need some fresh air for health reasons etc. The next item for you is a good Lifebreath HRV, I have one.
Cheers
