We are looking for a noncombustible louvered metal door to replace the wooden louvered door in front of the furnace.
The original furnace is from 1959 and code has improved since then. The gap between the new furnace with the existing doorway will be 2 inches. We would like to switch the door to a non-combustable louvered door instead of bumping out the framework 6 inches.
We are going with a Trane xV80 gas furnace. I'm used to listening to the old furnace cycle. It makes me happier to hear it than not hear it. That was the first indication of how we found out the old one had problems.
The old wooden door had just a 1'x1' louver in the bottom, so it would be upgraded anyway. A metal door with full length louvers like some wooden closet doors would be great!
Been looking on Google, but not coming up with anything I won't need to buy a metal door, and then seperate metal louvers, from several sources, and retrofit anyway.
Thanks, Matt
