Loud Buzzing when turning gas switch from "pilot" to "on"
I have a carrier gas furnance for a forced air heating system. im trying to turn my heat on. The fan motor runs fine when the red gas switch is either on "Pilot" or "off" but as soon as i turn the red gas switch to the necessary "on" position it makes a very loud and troubling buzzing sound. I believe it is an electrical buzzing, and the sound is definitely coming from the gas part of the furnace and not the mor itself. I'm relatively handy, but have been out of work for a year. The last thing i need right now is to have to pay for an expensive repair bill or to have to replace my furnace. Can anyone help me diagnose and fix this problem? \
Thanks mike |

Does the buzz go away when the thermostat is off?

Either the transformer is getting weak ot the pull in coil in the gas valve has excessive resistance
I would start with the transformer
