Looking to run gas line to garage...plumber wants to know the BTU's

I'm having a plumber run several gas stubs in my basement. I've asked him to also run a stub to the garage in case I ever want to put a heater in there.

I guess the BTU's will determine the gas line size. The garage is about 15' x 40', unfinished, not insulated. Is there a BTU number I could give him and not worry about the line being under/over sized?

Thanks.
