We bought a new camper last year with AC and had nothing but trouble with the AC. The capillary thermostat would not allow the compressor to stay on long enough to cool the unit or to dehumidify. It cycled all the time, but never got cool. The control head was replaced and that did not help, then the compressor head was replaced still no help. We were told this was the best it was going to get. I removed the capillary thermostat and replaced it with a line voltage thermostat, a lux pro 3. This acted only as a on, off switch as it would not trip on or off by itself. After reading online reviews I find that this is a very popular complaint from this product. My question is, what would a good thermostat for this application. Thank You so much in advance for any help. Barry
Probably an OEM replacement? IF it is not a pop-up camper then there are all kinds of options. If it is POP-up then it is likely that you need an OEM. The reason I say that is because there is not much if any room to mount a thermostat on a pop up because lowering the pop-up provides a lot constraint as to size of the stat and mounting location.
