Lennox Whisper Heat Furnace - G20 Series Filter Options

My user manual states "Do not replace reusable foam filters with throw-away type filters". I've been using the basic pleated disposable type filters for years so I guess it's OK. However, I'd like to get a better quality filter for the allergy sufferers in the house. Does anyone know if there are certain filters that would cause problems (air flow) for this furnace or any suggestions on what type of filter would be appropriate?

Thanks in advance!

Merv 7 or Merv 8 pleated filters are OK for that furnace. Any higher like Merv 10 or 11 and it may overheat.
