Lennox M/N G23Q3/4-100-6 Problem
Hello all, and thanks in advance for the help!!I have a Lennox Elite Series M/N:G23Q3/4-100-6 S/N:5899C 30862. When the furnace is running it works great. However, sometimes it cycles but does not ignite until I unplug it for 10sec's or so. Once I plug the furnace in again it fires up just fine and will do so until it needs to be unplugged again. The problem is intermittent and is very annoying. Now there is a diagnosis chart on the panel but there is some ambiguity as to how and use the chart. There are 2 diagnosis columns so I'm not sure if you are suppose to interpret the LED individually or together. Anyway, can some one help?

Lennox M/N G23Q3/4-100-6 Problem
Hey Yuri,Sorry for the late response, I had some DSL issues. No I have not had the unit cleaned or serviced annually. I moved in about 2 yr ago. At the moment can't really afford to have is serviced by a proffesional, so I am going to have to go this alone and do what I can. Like I said the problem with the Lennox is not one that can't be overcome by unpluging and pluging back in. My hopes are that through sites like this I can draw on a large enough knowldge and experience that I can service this myself, if not I'll have to spend the money build an insert and start burning fire wood. I will get the code next time the lennox flips out and post it.You will be hearing from me.Thanks

Your frugal attitude towards annual furnace maintenance is what is causing your problem, That series of Lennox you own has had several updates on the ignition system that would have been covered by the factory if you'd had a Lennox dealer doing your annual maintenance.
BTW, your plan for a wood stove and liner is way more money than it would cost to correct your furnace problem. Again as i have said....penny wise pound foolish.

Lennox M/N G23Q3/4-100-6 Problem
Hey Yuri,Thanks for the only real help, reading the codes together. I was able to determine it was a "Primary/Seconday Limit Switch Open". Went to another web site and recieved the info on how to replace the defective component. Thanks for your help Yuri with help understanding how to read the codes. As for hvaclover and beenthere, I am a metal fabricator. Building a wood burning insert is gravy, I trade work for material so fixing my furnace is actually more expensive than building an insert.______________________Think before you speak or suffer for your words. Thanks for all your help guys.

You still need to up date your ignition system. I do Lennox repair too.

If it blew the primary limit control then you need to do a temp rise test and see if there is enough airflow thru the furnace. Check the supply temp a foot downstream from the bonnet and subtract the return temp. The allowable rating should be on the model # sticker. Maintenance of ALL furnaces is important and my fellow Pros promote it. Unmaintained equipment can be dangerous and that furnace has it's "issues".
