Lennox HVAC no fan humming noise

Hello All,

Noticed my Lennox hvac unit inside blower is working (no cold air). Outside condenser no fan and hear an electrical humming noise.

Unit is about 15 years old. Could it be the run capacitor or fan motor or something else?

Thanks in advance.

Jay

Could be the condenser, could be the motor. Stop running it while the outside unit is Kaput. In the morning if you have a DVM (Digital Volt Meter), start checking out the cap & motor for voltages.

Also check the contactor on the outside unit, to see if it is closing, when there is a call for cooling.

Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?

Looked at the Condenser Unit and the Run Capacitor is all bulged and has some sort of hard grey foamy stuff underneath. The contact relay appears to work when a call for cooling is sent.

Going to replace the capacitor tomorrow when my local Grainger opens.

Thanks

Replaced the capacitor and all is working fine. Took only like 5 minutes. I am glad for all the DIY'ers on this site and their willingness to assist others.

Thumbs up to all of you.
