Lennox HS19-411-6P

Afternoon all!

Ive got an older Lennox ac that I think is starting to have some problems and Im not quite sure where to start. Im noticing some prolonged run times with no breaks or fairly short breaks and it cant seem to get the temperature inside below 78. Ive got the thermostat set at 75 and the temperature reads 78 so I dont feel Im working it too hard. Thoughts?

Well, it is best to be certain that your filters have been changed lately. I always recommend that people change (or clean if the permanent type) their filters once a month during the heating/cooling seasons. After that, I would have someone clean the evaporator coil and the condenser coil and make sure you have enough refrigerant in the system. Dirty filters and/or coils are the most common problems so that is where I would start.

Get the Freon level checked and also the compressor like a car engine will wear out and lose it's capacity. a skilled tech can check the compression ratio etc.

I just recently replaced the filter and I blow the housing out every time I cut the grass so I think my problem may be more difficult than that unfortunately. Ill get the compressor and freon checked out first. Thanks for the input guys
