Default Lennox heat pump prob (update)

I posted awhile back that my heat strips kept coming on with the heat pump 3 min after startup. Turned out the temp probe selector was set at 100 deg so it was not being satisfied from the coils and the strips would kick on, now it is set at 85 and all is well, so it would seem.

Just received the elec bill again, almost $400 so im really POe'd now

I went inside the air handler and removed the temp probe and placed it just above the coils, when the compressor kicks on it's about 96 deg just above the coils so that should at least trick the probe to thinking it's all good.

Right after start up, about 1 min after temp at probe is 96 deg and the single strip is on....what's going on with this thing, can't afford this.

I removed the outside unit cover and after shut down, the alternating red LED's indicated a "short-cycle" Is this bad?

Help is greatly appreciated, won't be able to get my tech back till monday.

I wanted to add, this thing has a mind all it's own, no matter how I "play" with it, it's always one step ahead of me and knows what i'm trying to do.

I disconnected the heat strips last month and it' wouldn't turn on, fan would run but not the outside unit.

Okay our timers going off. So let's check our pork. It should be ready now. Looks good. Look at that. It's nicely browned. Temperature, internal temp is 175 so that's perfect so we will remove the probe carefully. It's a hot pan. Set that aside and we'll... Read More »
