Lennox Gas Fireplace Draft

Hello,

I have a Lennox LMDV-3530CNM. This is my second winter in the home and first doing the startup. While cleaning out the lower compartment prior to lighting I noticed a draft in that area near where the gas line comes in.

My question is can I put insulation around the gas line or take other steps? Thanks?

Don't know about the rest of the guys but around here fire places are considered decoration and not heating equiptment. Not covered on HVAC permits or inspections so we don't mess with them. That might be the cause for no answers.

I don't work on them. So I can't give a good answer as to weather or not sealing that hole would hurt anything or not.

Where does it get its combustion air from?

Looks like a sealed comb unit with that intake within the exhaust pipe concentric termination. I have seen a few. If you seal that hole and it gets cold in there moisture may condense and cause a problem. I would leave it alone and lets some heat in. Those units rusty easily inside and out and I would not want a condensation/cold problem to be created.
