Fan motor stutters when turned on. May run may not.

Is this a question? This is a forum, not a search engine. We're real people here.

Sorry, new at this. I have a Lennox xc 21 matched with a CBWMV 36-90 air handler. The fan stoped working so of course no AC. Loking inside CBWMV I noticed when turning sytem on and off the fan would stutter back and forth. After about 5 resets it stutterd but finally ran.

There is a primary control board (40K82) which seems to control the fan motor and the fan motor itself. Don't want to throw parts until I get your advice.

I'm just a lowly moderator here.
More knowledgeable HVAC guys will be along shortly to help you.

Where are you located? USA? It's a Saturday and hot, so most of the guys are probably nursing cold drinks out by the pool! Or drinking beer and standing under the hose...

Please be patient, someone will help you soon.

I would like to thank everyone for the help! I've been here aprox. 2 hours and all I got from this forum is reprimanded by DangerMouse and false promises. Waste of my time.

That's a very expensive ECM motor that has a 10 year parts warranty.Testing the motor vs module vs control board requires the know how and specialty tools. Call the installing company for repairs since parts and tools will be many times the cost of an overtime call.

Sorry but DIY is not recommended in this case.

pingping, those of us in the HVAC trade have been out working fixing our customer's A/Cs that weren't working. We don't get paid to answer questions here, we have to work.

Is your XC still less then 5 years old, if so, good chance your is still under warranty. What your describing is common when a module starts to go out. can't say for sure from this side of the internet.

The motor, its module, and the control board are all OEM. So are you prepared to remove the module and check it.
