Length of Duct Run

I have a standard bathroom vent fan with 3" round duct opening and want to connect a solid 3" duct to it and vent it out the roof. However, the roof area immediately over where the bath fan is has a double roof (roof from a covered deck overlaps original house roof), so I need to run the duct horizontally about 10 feet or so and vent it out another part of the roof. Will this work? I hesitate to run duct through two roofs as a contractor I had look at this said I could not run the duct through a double roof.
Thank you.

Try to avoid cutting holes in your roof.
Is there a gable end nearby?

Yes, there is a gable end about 15 feet away. Is that too long of a duct run?

It's too long of a duct run for a 3" exhaust.
Those 'standard' bath fans move very little air.
Upgrade to a fan with at least a 4" exhaust outlet.
