Question

Kitchen Range Hood

I need to install an exhaust hood over my island range. I like the modern look of the curved glass hoods (a 36" wide one would be about right). My problem is that all of them that I can find have a rectangular stainless steel chimney coming up out of the top. To match what is already in the kitchen, I want to connect this hood to my existing round garnet red duct. The ceiling is high, and it is a major design feature in the room. Is there any way to remove square stainless chimney and install my round one? The hood has to hang from this chimney, so the connection needs to be strong enough to support the hood. (There is enough room inside mine to run the usual 6" round exhaust duct and the electrical wiring from the cord.)

Ant help would be appreciated. These hoods are too expensive to buy one and then find out it can't be done.

Kitchen Range Hood

You can buy a fitting that will transform the rectangle to round or have a shop make one for you.

Kitchen Range Hood

Thanks. I'll talk to a sheet metal shop about maning a quick transition and cutting the square chimney off close to the hood.
