just me

I have a 1100sqft ranch, vinyl sided w/ wrap in northern Michigan; 165 ft vented crawl perimeter, 4 block high w/ one block exposed to exterior. COLD FLOORS. Hot water baseboard heat with pipes in crawl along with water/sewage. Poly on ground , up wall attached to sill plate. Perimeter dry but damp in center of crawl in spring. Fiberglass betw joist at sill plate. Will insulating perimeter give warm floors? If so, what type insulation? Rigid? Fiberglass? Fire rated? How to install? Am I correct in not insulating hot water heat supply pipes? Thanks.

Insulate between floor joists as much as possible and at plate.. I have my own ideas but I would leave it to a insulation tech.

Were it mine I would go for sprayed on foam insulation, but I don't know the exact style of construction you have.

Also if you have poly on the floor of the crawl added insulation might cause more condensation, the house now being tighter.

You may have to run a dehumidifier in such a case.

Another method would be to run a new heating loop under the floor also.

Just slow, not stupid.
