Intermittent Fan

I like to run the fan constantly to circulate air in my home; I just have the fan switch set to "On" Recently, I've noticed that the fan cuts out periodically. I did some troubleshooting and it appears that the problem only occurs when the fan's running from the "fan on" switch since it never cuts out when the heat is actually running.

What could be wrong?

Does it do it just before the air becomes warm? If so, its programmed into the board to do that.

Brand and model number of furnace may help.

No, it happens constantly. It's clearly broken, in 10 minutes it cycled probably 20 times. I will check the model number when I get home.

Check if the wire from the G terminal of the thermostat and at the furnace is loose.

the switch for fan ON at the thermostat may be weak and not making good connection.

It's not a loose wire, I checked all the wires and they're tight. Is the thermostat user replaceable or do I need to hire it in?

You cn do the thermostat yourself.
