insulating around knob and tube

So, I haven't actually been explicitly told NOT to insulate around k&t, just heard you're not supposed to.

I want to insulate around the sills and stud bays in my basement (balloon framed walls). The plan is to fill the cavity with fiberglass batting, then spray it all with expanding foam.

In the places where k&t is present, can I spray it with some fire-resistant foam, then fiberglass, or even just stuff some fiberglass right around it and still be OK in terms of fire hazard?

I opened up a plumbing chase, and there is plaster broken off the wall, just freezing air rushing up from the basement all day and night. Gotta do something about it.

THanks

I don't think you can just spray foam on knob and tube.

This would be a good question to ask in the electrical forum.

Knob & tube must be left in the air, not covered

I asked about insulating the MIL's attic which has knob & tube & was told it had to remain in open air for cooling
