Just out of curiosity, how is insulating the exposed air ducts in the basement now a waste of money?
When I asked... it was about future redundancy aspect.
If you would be finishing the basment and heating it on it's own (as that would require) then the duct would all be inside tempered space and a waste to insulate them on their own. Seal yes... insulate no.
As to the other thermal change theories being thrown around... dunno. It all sounds far too MrWizard for me.
