Insulated AC Pipe Freezing up

Hi guys,

I've searched the forums here about this problem, and I just want to make sure I've done all I can before I call a pro.

The A/C works fine, then the insulated pipe that connects to the furnace freezes up after a while and I have to shut the a/c off and let it thaw.

I've cleaned the outside units fins as best as I could (with the hose) and I've made sure that the furnace filter is fresh. When the AC is on, it's blowing thru the vents properly, so I don't think its the blower motor.

Is there anything else I should try myself before calling a tech?

P.S. - I did notice that the old furnace filter had been facing the wrong way. I'm not sure if this could have messed something up.

Any help would be great,

Thanks!!

If you can get at the underside of the evaporator coil in the furnace or air handler, check it for dirt and clean it. Otherwise the unit may be low on freon and need a Pro to check it.
