induction fan constantly running

Our furnace with central air has been making noise. I have had a service man look at it, and of course no noise made while he was here. He came out a second time and it was determined that it was the induction fan that was running and making the noise( he also told us that the induction fan should only come on with the furnace). Will this constant running running of the inducation fan damage the motor and eventualy the furnace? I can't afford a new one. Please help!!!!!!

Yes. If you have a cheap power stealing electronic thermostat it can activate the induction fan relay. Or you may have a faulty circuit board. Should get it repaired as the fan will wear out and that is another cost to you. Post a closeup pic of your thermostat and we may able to tell you if it is a problem one

At a minimum, as you are not using the furnace you should find or have the service tech find the power source to the induction fan and disconnect it, at least that way you will save the fan and motor.

Just remember in order to have heat you need that fan.

hehe, well hehe, if it is the induction fan (a.k.a. blower motor) making the noise, i think it time to get it changed out for another one already. whether you want it to or not i think its about to give out completely.

and yes it will damage ur compressor when the thing eventually gives...

costing u more $$$
