Ignitor Problem Carrier
Hello,
I have a Carrier 58GSC045 Furnace. The unit starts up the pilot correctly, when the burners fire up the ignitor keeps on ticking. Any idea what might be causing the problem. Thanks |

Ignitor Problem Carrier
I believe that unit has the old mechanical warp switch pilot burner. Notorious for failing/sticking when they get old and are quite an expensive part. I would start considering a new furnace as that one is getting pretty old. The heat exchanger may fail soon.

Ignitor Problem Carrier
I just replaced the pilot burner/ignitor assembly. The furnance is about 17 years old but has not been used much since I live in S. California- typically 30 days each year.
Thanks |

Ignitor Problem Carrier
Hang in there, we have some more experienced Carrier guys here. Those units are mostly obsolete where I am. Used 200 days of the year. Just like your A/C units.

Ignitor Problem Carrier
the 3 wire pilot assembly is going bad, that is causing the ignitor to continue sparking
